Frequently Asked Questions

What support does an end-of-life doula offer?

An end-of-life doula provides non-medical, palliative support for all aspects of the end-of-life journey. Services may include advance care planning and end-of-life conversations; holistic support for individuals and their loved ones throughout the transition; bedside vigiling to ensure consistent companionship when desired; referrals to community resources; and grief support and coaching.

Who should contact the doula for support?

Support is available to individuals approaching the end-of-life who are seeking clarity, companionship, and emotional support for themselves or their loved ones. Services are also available to family members, caregivers, and loved ones who are seeking guidance, care, and support for themselves and the person who is dying.

Where can services be accessed?

Services are based in Vancouver, BC, with virtual support available throughout the province. Travel outside of Vancouver may be possible and may involve additional fees to cover associated costs.

When should a doula be contacted?

We can begin our work together at any point in the end of life journey: before or after receiving a life-limiting diagnosis; when considering or planning for a medically assisted death provision (MAiD); if loved ones require support at any stage; when bedside vigiling is desired; after a loved one’s passing.

How much do services cost?

All relationships begin with a complimentary 30-minute phone consultation to assess suitability and mutual fit. The hourly rate is $85 plus GST. Service packages are available for those seeking multiple supports and offer reduced hourly rates. Additional details can be found on the services page.
